Jason Rutherford
The CFSTC Story: From Passion to Purpose Kim’s Journey: The Foundation of CFSTC For Kim Wilkes, fitness was never part of her childhood. Growing up without the resources or confidence to participate in sports, she didn’t consider herself an athlete. That changed when she discovered group exercise classes like step aerobics and kickboxing, which ignited a love for movement. Her background as a nurse gave her a unique appreciation for how the body worked, and she became fascinated by the concept of movement itself. Despite earning certifications in Kickboxing and Private Training, something felt incomplete. She bounced between group classes and free weights, but progress felt stagnant-she couldn’t even squat properly. Then, one day, while searching for new fitness ideas, Kim stumbled across CrossFit. It was like opening a door to a whole new world. The website was packed with resources, from instructional videos to the CrossFit Journal, and Kim spent hours absorbing it all before finally trying her first workout. That first step was life-changing. CrossFit wasn’t just about physical exercise; it was about community, encouragement, and celebrating progress together. For the first time, Kim felt like she was part of something bigger. She wasn’t just working out-she was transforming, and she wanted others to experience the same. Over the years, Kim turned her passion into a purpose, helping others achieve milestones they never thought possible. Through continuous learning, she grew smarter about fitness, but one thing never changed: her dedication to care, honesty, and support. This commitment became the cornerstone of the CFSTC way, creating a space where people could thrive both physically and mentally. Jason’s Journey: A New Chapter for CFSTC In 2016, Jason was far from the picture of health. An out-of-shape IT business owner, he struggled with inconsistent fitness routines and fleeting results. Completing a Tough Mudder race that year was supposed to be a personal triumph, but instead, it became a wake-up call. A foot injury during the event led to an urgent care visit, where Jason learned two shocking truths: he was pre-diabetic and over 40 pounds overweight. Determined to change his life, Jason began searching for a sustainable fitness routine. His wife suggested CrossFit, and he reached out to CFSC. Within minutes, Kim responded, welcoming him to the gym. From his very first class, Jason was captivated. The intensity of the workouts, the camaraderie of the community, and the unwavering support from coaches and members alike hooked him. Over time, CrossFit transformed Jason’s health and confidence. By 2020, his passion for the sport had grown so deeply that he earned his Level 1 CrossFit Trainer certification and began coaching at CFSTC. Coaching quickly became a source of immense joy for Jason. Helping others achieve their goals, gain confidence, and transform their lives mirrored his own journey, reinforcing his commitment to the CrossFit community. Determined to grow as a coach, Jason pursued additional certifications, including his Level 2 CrossFit Trainer and HSN Nutrition certifications. These experiences deepened his appreciation for the mission Kim had built: to change lives through fitness, community, and education. When the opportunity arose to purchase CFSTC and carry Kim’s mission forward, Jason didn’t hesitate. It wasn’t just a business venture-it was a chance to give back to the community that had given him so much. CFSTC Today: A Shared Vision Today, CFSTC stands as a testament to the transformative power of fitness and community. Kim’s passion and dedication laid the foundation, while Jason’s journey brought new energy and commitment to the mission. Together, their stories inspire everyone who walks through CFSTC’s doors, proving that with determination, guidance, and the right support, incredible transformations are possible. Jason Rutherford
Jason has coached CrossFit for 4 years. He has his CrossFit Level 2 certification, Aerobic Capacity certification and is a Healthy Steps Nutrition certified coach.
Jason enjoys playing guitar and spending time with his family.
Michelle Evans
Michelle has coached CrossFit for 5 years. She has her CrossFit Level 2 certification and she is a Healthy Steps Nutrition certified coach. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her kids and husband and hiking -especially in her home town in Canada. She is married with 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 kids.
Kim Wilkes
Kim is the founder of CrossFit St Charles and has coached for 16 years. She has the following certifications: CrossFit Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, HSN Nutrition, CrossFit Weightlifting, USAW, CrossFit gymnastics, CrossFit Pose Running, CrossFit Kettlebell, Hardstyle Kettlebell Course, CrossFit Adaptive Athlete course, CrossFit Barbell course, and Birdbox Gymnastic course.
Kim enjoys traveling with her husband John, spending time with their two daughters and snuggling with their cats, Max and Stewie.
Tyler Long
Tyler has coached CrossFit for just under one year. He has his CrossFit Level 1 certification as well as his ATC (Athletic Trainer) and CES (Corrective Exercise Specialist) certifications.
Tyler enjoys fly fishing, hiking, and taking his wife to target and only buying what is on the list. He and his wife are looking forward to welcoming their first child due March 2025! They are also dog lovers and both of their dogs are rescues. The oldest is a 7 year old lab mix named Mack and he is their kind, gentle, angel. Their youngest is an 8 month old velociraptor they call Winnie.
Sarah Floyd
Sarah has coached CrossFit for 12 years. She has her CrossFit Level 3 certification as well as a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy.
Sarah’s hobbies are in natural, holistic health & wellness coaching, healing & recovery. She is married with 3 kids, 3 dogs, 4 acres and 2 small businesses.
Joelle Pruitt
Joelle has coached CrossFit for 3 years. She has her CrossFit Level 1 and is an NASM Certified Personal Trainer.
Joelle enjoys art and travel. She is a boy mom to her first born, a pittie named Goose and has just welcomed a newborn baby boy, Wilde.
Jen Leander
Jen has coached CrossFit for 15 years. She has her CrossFit Level 1 and Level 2, as well as CrossFit Kids and CrossFit Gymnastics certifications.
Jen enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Jamie Wansing
Jamie has coached CrossFit for 10 years. He has his CrossFit Level 1 as well as a Concept 2 Rowing certification.
Jamie enjoys his job as a local fire fighter!
Valerie Barr
Valerie has coached CrossFit for just under one year. She has her CrossFit Level 1 certification.
Val enjoys scuba diving, running, baking, traveling, snow and water skiing. Her husband, Ryan, is also a coach. Their daughter attends Ole Miss and their son will be attending Colorado School of Mines starting in the fall of 2025. They love to travel as a family, spending time in tropical locations to go scuba diving, in Utah every winter for snow skiing, and time on their boat in the summer. They have 2 dogs who they love dearly!
Ryan Barr
Ryan has coached CrossFit for 6 years. He has his CrossFit Level 1 and Level 2 certifications.
Ryan enjoys mountain climbing, scuba, skydiving, cycling, snow and water skiing, flying, rock climbing, hunting, and photography. Ryan has a very active family. His wife, Valerie, is also a coach at CFSTC and both their children Kalyn and Brynden, who grew up in the gym environment, do CrossFit as well.
Chris Glover
Chris has coached CrossFit for 15+ years. He has his CrossFit Level 2 certification as well as NASM, CrossFit Kettlebell, USAW, CrossFit Adaptive Athlete, and CrossFit Olympic Lifting certifications.
To Chris, the gym is life! He also enjoys spending time with his 2 dogs, Cooper and Dexter, his wife and 3 kids.
Alex Leander
Alex has coached CrossFit for 14 years. He has his CrossFit Level 1 certification as well as CrossFit Kids, CrossFit Gymnastics, and Law Enforcement Fitness Coordinator Trainer certifications.
Alex enjoys spending time with his family.
Kyle Kellis
Kyle has coached CrossFit for 11 years. He has his CrossFit Level 1 & Level 2 certifications as well as the CrossFit Adaptive Athlete certification.
Kyle enjoys golf, hunting, outdoor activities, running, video games, and spending time with friends and family.
Michelle Evans
Michelle has coached CrossFit for a little over 5 years. She has her CrossFit Level 2 certification and she is a Healthy Steps Nutrition certified coach. Michelle was a collegiate athlete playing Field Hockey at Lindenwood University. She has her masters in Business Management and formerly worked as a Financial Advisor. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her kids (Ragean and Blakelyn) and husband (Cory). Michelle enjoys being outdoors; hiking, camping, snowboarding and getting on the water. She is originally from Nelson, British Columbia, Canada and still goes with her family to visit often.
