  • Tell us a little about yourself!

I am a husband to my beautiful wife Whitney, we've been married almost 8 years. We have an amazing son Liam, who is 3 years old. I work from home as a Recruiting Manager for a commercial finance company based out of California. I am a Jesus follower and a fan of all things St Louis!

  • What made you start CrossFit and what has kept you doing it? Has your motivation changed since you first started?

I was introduced to CrossFit-style workouts in 2014 while living in Kirksville, MO and was immediately hooked. I joined my first box in 2015 when I moved to Joplin, MO and was a regular at CrossFit Joplin on 4th until it became MWB CrossFit in 2017. With a baby in the house and a wife in medical school/residency it became very difficult to find the time to commit (EXCUSES!) and I eventually fell off. that was until we moved back to the St Louis area and I found CrossFit St Charles. My motivation has changed since I started, simply because I know what my body is capable of now and it drives me harder during workouts.

  • What have you learned since joining the CrossFit St. Charles Family?

I have learned that there is a very special group of people that are a part of this community...a real reminder that life is intended to be done together. I am grateful to be a part of this family.

  • What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

CLEANS!! or Dubs if you were looking for a movement instead of a lift!

  • What impact has CrossFit had on you outside of the gym?

Mental toughness, knowing that when things get tough there is another gear I can shift into.

  • What’s your next CrossFit goal(s) and how close are you to reaching it?

I want to get back to doing bar muscle ups. With more work on them I think I am very close from a strength standpoint, just need more work on my technique.

  • What’s something we might not know about you yet?

My wife and I were on the game show Lingo back in 2011. We went head to head with another engaged couple for the chance to win $100K...and we JUST lost. ***sobs uncontrollably***

  • What advice might you give to someone who is considering joining CrossFit St. Charles or is new to the gym?

Don't worry about "keeping up" with others in the gym. Focus on being a little bit better than you were yesterday. What a blessing to be able to improve your fitness and have so much fun at the same time!

  • What’s your motto?

Don't forget to appreciate the little things in life that make it worth living.

  • Write us a WOD! What kinda movements do you love? What’s your favorite way to put in work?

4 Rounds for Time (1 min rest between rounds): 25 Dubs, 25 Ab Mat Sit Ups, 25 Wall Balls, 10 Hang Power Cleans @ 135 lbs/95 lbs (should probably be heavier for bigger lifters)
