The CFStC Athlete of the month for March is Crystal Jones!

Tell us a little bit about yourself

I have been in the St Charles area for just a little over a year now. We moved here from Las Vegas. I have 3 kids, a husband and 2 big dogs.

What made you start CrossFit and what has kept you doing it?

I joined because I was looking for a community who shared my love of fitness. I have all the gym equipment I need in my basement, but having moved here recently, I didn’t know anyone yet. I keep going because I love working out with the friends I have made.

Has your motivation changed since you first started?

Definitely, I first joined with goals for changing what my body looks like, but that has shifted into wanting my body to be strong, and do things I had never done before.

What have you learned since joining the CrossFit St. Charles family?

I have learned that consistency is one of the most important aspects of reaching your goals. The consistency for doing the workouts in the gym has also carried over to consistency with my nutrition.

What is your favorite movement?

Deadlift

What impact has CF had on you outside of the gym?

I used to compete in bodybuilding shows where my whole focus was how I was going to look on stage. My kids would watch me prep for those. Now they see me at Crossfit getting stronger, fueling my body, and focusing on being healthy. I know this is a better influence for their upbringing.

What is your next CrossFit goal and how close are you to reaching it?

I want to lift 225 pounds on my deadlift. Last time we tested I was able to do 195, so getting closer!

What’s something we might not know about you?

I love going to see local cover bands and I can dance the entire night.

What advice might you give to someone who is considering joining CFStC or is new to the gym?

I would tell them, all the workouts can be scaled to your level, every single member I have met is encouraging, nice and friendly, and the coaches are so knowledgeable and really want to help you do your best.
