Crista Moore!
Tell us a little about yourself!
I am a wife and mom of four little humans. I work full time as a social work counselor in special education and recently opened my own counseling practice.
What made you start CrossFit and what has kept you doing it?
I actually started crossfit in 2016 as a means to manage my Rheumatoid Arthritis and wean off RA medications, as well as get in shape again after my first pregnancy. I have kept doing CF because of the people at the gym and my overall love for fitness!
Has your motivation changed since you first started?
My goals have definitely changed over the years. Since doing nutrition coaching with Jason, I have learned so much about what my body needs to fuel itself and how to better listen to my body (i.e is it better to sleep or get up and workout at 5am today?). There is a definite balance! My focus over the eight years has also changed in regards to gaining strength and functional fitness to keep up with my three boys and baby girl.
What have you learned since joining the CFStC family?
So so many things…but to put it simply, I am actually a morning person. There have been many awesome times and memories over the last eight years!
What is your favorite movement?
I don’t think I’d be able to just pick one!
What impact has CrossFit had on you outside of the gym?
Functional fitness! I love that I can lift heavy everyday things outside of the gym and keep up with my kiddos.
What is your next goal and how close are you to reaching it?
Perfecting my push up form, increasing lifting PRs and one day, muscle ups.
What is something we might not know about you?
In my nonexistent free time I actually love to fish, swim and read.
What advice might you give to someone who is considering joining CFStC or who is new to the gym?
Just try it! Find your “class time” and the people in that class become like family.
What is the Crista motto?
I stole this one from Jason months ago “when motivation fails rely on self discipline.”
If you could write you own WOD, what would it look like?
Hang power cleans, bench, wall walks, weighted box step ups.
