Tell us a little bit about yourself
I grew up in a small town 3 hrs SE from STL. 30 minutes from the AR border. Graduated with my kindergarten class of 94 students. I met my husband Tony in the marching band @ SMSU. (I actually bought him at a date auction for $85 – I always say it was The best $85 I’ve ever spent! Haha) We have 3 beautiful daughters. Lauren (23) Gabby (22) & Kinley (12) – and yes she was a lovely surprise! 😉
- What made you start CrossFit and what has kept you going
I was looking for something new. I grew up very active in sports. And after putting on WAY to much weight after my first 2 girls. I was able to loose it all with Pilates & adult gymnastics. Someone in my Pilates class told me about the STL Rowing team. And I thought that sounded awesome. So that was my next adventure. I LOVED rowing! I was on the team for about 4 years and was able to compete in several regattas. One of which was a 5k in Chattanooga, TN – I had to row it twice. In a womens 4 & in a mixed 8. I thought I was going to die trying to keep up with the men in the boat! But sadly the crew was to ‘cliquy’. And the people that thought they were the best made it stressful for everyone else. So I quit. 4 or 5 years later I met Sara Palmier, her daughter Marleigh and Kinley are in the same grade & Girl Scout troop. I knew she did CrossFit (tshirt advertising! Lol). I had no idea what crossfit was. So one day I asked her about it and she invited me to a class with her. And I loved it! I’ve never been one to workout on my own. I need instruction or someone yelling at me! Haha So crossfit was a perfect fit
