Meet the Coaches 2021: Joelle Pruitt

She may be a tad bit new to CrossFit, but Coach Joelle is no stranger to fitness and without a doubt has a big passion for fitness! Furthermore, she’s the newest coach with the gym and has started doing private training sessions. Did we mention that she’s also a beast at lifting? Read all about her in our interview below!


1. What is your experience/ background in fitness and exercise?

I came from a pretty athletic family so I’ve always been involved with fitness and exercise. I decided to study kinesiology in college and make a living out of my love of fitness.

2. How and when did you discover CrossFit?

The 2015 CrossFit games randomly came on TV and I was super into it. Watching The Dottirs made me light up. I was always too nervous to actually join a gym though. Until I got bored in my fitness routine and walked through the doors of a box in 2020.

3. What are you most passionate about when it comes to CrossFit?

I love pushing myself past what my mind believes I can do in every single workout. It’s a huge mental game and I feel like it trains me in other areas of life as well. Also heavy lifting!

4. Why did you become a CF coach?

I already train people for a living and I already loved CrossFit so why not put the two together.

5. What’s a big lesson you’ve learned from being a coach?

I’ve learned that as a coach you have to be coachable yourself you can always learn something new. Being able to be coached allows you to be a better coach in the long run.

6. What do you think is the most important part of being a coach? 

Coaching is always a learning experience being able to spot a problem, identify the cause, and fix it with any type of athlete.

7. What’s your favorite part about being a coach?

I like being able to make a difference in people’s lives. People love working out and the gym is the one hour a day where they can come and forget about their problems and I love that I get to be a part of that.

8. What do you hope to do for others as a coach?

I hope to give people the best experience when it comes to health and fitness no matter if that’s results-based or mental.
