Athlete of the Month

Robin Raines

Tell us a little bit about yourself

I am newly married. My wife, Veronica and I have 5 kids (4 are mine, 1 is hers). We are building our dream home and will be moving to Cottleville in March! I teach high school math at St. Charles West and I coach cross country

What made you start CrossFit and what has kept you doing it?

I have had friends who were really into it, but didn’t think it was something I could do. When I moved here, I needed something to do to get motivated to stay in shape, so I signed up. Now that I have friends here, that is what keeps me motivated to keep showing up.

Has your motivation changed since you first started?

I first just wanted to see if it was something I could do, but now I want to set PRs and push myself to be the strongest version of myself I can be. It helps having friends here who push me!

What have you learned since joining the CrossFit St. Charles family?

I have learned that I can do hard things and push myself more than I thought I could!

What is your favorite movement?

Bench press

What impact has CF had on you outside of the gym?

It has greatly improved my confidence! I am in better shape than I have been in years and I continue to improve, and that feels good!

What is your next CrossFit goal and how close are you to reaching it?

To get pull-ups. It will still be a bit, hopefully by summer!

What’s something we might not know about you?

I am a California girl, born and raised there

What advice might you give to someone who is considering joining CFSTC or is new to the gym?

Just do it! Anyone can do crossfit! Between the coaches and the athletes there is so much support for all levels!

What is the Robin Motto?

You never know what you are capable of until you try.
