June 2022 AOTM: Jill Lindhorst

It’s one thing to already be young and involved in sports. But to actively seek out other ways to improve your health, fitness, and mentality – especially when you’re just a teenager – is something rare to come by, and Jill Lindhorst is no exception.

Not only has she started CrossFit a little over a year ago, but she has hit the ground running and has proven to herself that she is much stronger – both physically and mentally – than she ever knew. She also plays softball and improved her performance on the field by being able to keep her endurance up while still performing at her best.

As her coaches put it… “She is one of the most committed athletes that I have come across. She works super hard every single time she is in the gym, she never complains, and is always willing and eager to learn more!”

We’re excited to share her full interview today, so make sure you check all of it out, below.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Jill Lindhorst and I have been doing CrossFit for a little over a year. I love anything and everything fitness-related. I have played softball for 10 years, but this summer will be my last season because I am going off to college this fall. I plan on attending Ole Miss, and I have already found a CrossFit gym down in Mississippi!

What made you start CrossFit and what has kept you doing it?

My best friend, Kalyn Barr, got me into CrossFit. She asked me if I would like to go to a class with her one day, and I absolutely loved it. I am so thankful to her for showing me CrossFit. I kept going because of the community at the gym. Everyone is so supportive and welcoming.

“She is hardworking, extremely coachable, and has made great progress” – Head Coach; Kim Wilkes
“Jill is one of the hardest working and most consistent youth athletes” – Coach Ryan Barr

Has your motivation changed since you first started?

I have become more motivated after joining CrossFit because I love getting to try new things and see what I’m capable of.

What have you learned since joining the CrossFit St. Charles family?

I have learned that with hard work, results come with ease. I have also learned that I am stronger physically and mentally than I thought.

What is your favorite memory?

My favorite memory was during Open Workout 21.2. I was the last one going and everyone was cheering me on so loud. My dad took a video of it, and every time I watch it back I can’t help but smile.

What impact has CF had on you outside of the gym and what are your next goals?

CrossFit has helped me so much in softball. I have much better endurance and can play longer while still performing at my best.

My next CrossFit goal is to do a pullup. I was so close to getting one during Open Workout 22.3 this year, and I am determined to get one.

What’s something we might not know about you?

Something you may not know about me is I love anything St. Louis Blues-related.

What advice might you give to someone who is considering joining CFSTC or is new to the gym?

DO IT!! I absolutely would recommend CrossFit to anyone! It is so rewarding and makes you feel so proud of yourself.

What is the Jill motto?

The Jill motto would have to be “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” I love this quote because life is short and you might as well take as many risks as you can.

If you could write your own WOD, what would it look like?

My WOD would definitely involve rowing, DB push press, and box jump overs. It would definitely NOT include the assault bike.

What are two of your favorite songs?

September by Earth Wind and Fire and Picture to Burn by Taylor Swift

Congratulations, Jill! We’re all proud of you and wish you the best along your fitness journey and your ventures in college!
